Thundercat is the stage name of Stephen Lee Bruner, an American bass guitarist, vocalist, producer, and songwriter who was born in Los Angeles on October 19, 1984.
In addition to his collaboration with producer Flying Lotus and his participation on Kendrick Lamar’s 2015 album To Pimp a Butterfly, he first gained notoriety as a member of the crossover thrash band Suicidal Tendencies. Since then, he has released four solo studio albums.

Yes, Thundercat was part of Suicidal. In early in 2001, Wackerman left to work on other things, and Ron Bruner took his position. Paul also departed the band about a year later, and Steve “Thundercat” Bruner, Bruner’s brother, took his place.
Bruner and David Hidalgo Jr. started sharing the drumming responsibilities in 2002, and over the ensuing years, both members appeared onstage at various times. Eric Moore took over as the group’s full-time drummer in October 2008.
In order to concentrate on his solo career, Thundercat left Suicidal Tendencies in 2011. In his place, Tim “Rawbiz” Williams took over. Longtime rhythm guitarist Mike Clark quit No Mercy the following June in order to reconstitute the band as Waking the Dead.
